Robert Schneider has been painting the Catskills and the Hudson Valley area for over 40 years closely following the tradition of the Hudson River School of Painting. Both Schneider and his wife Susan Goetz, who is also a painter, studied at the Art Students League of New York, and also privately with accomplished painters. Their work was featured in American Artist in November 2007.

Between the Mountains and the Mayor: Paintings by Robert Schneider, which opened with a reception on June 8, will remain on view at Headwaters Art Center in Stamford through July 13. The show includes close to twenty oil paintings that capture the splendor of the region with a clever attention to detail and a masterful brushstroke.

Since 2019 Schneider has served as the Mayor of Stamford.
