Journey to the Catskills:

Hiking and Todd Rundgren brought me here in 1982.

Vocation:

My graduate degree is a Master’s of Social Work. I worked in both clinical and school settings for most of my career. In addition, I have worked as a ghost writer for years, writing for mental health and addiction-oriented publications and websites. My avocation and vocation blur somewhat when it comes to writing – I write because I have to. It is a deep need, like breathing or hiking. I write because writing both anchors me and frees me.

Avocation:

Wildlife and nature photography. I’m not very skilled or talented and have mediocre equipment, which means I have loads of challenges and disappointments… which seems to just encourage me to keep shooting!

Happiness Is:

Witnessing a moment in nature – a bird song, a honeybee swarm, a porcupine’s chatter, coyote howls…

Favorite Dish:

Back when Inez Valk made pizza at Table on Ten, I loved her fennel pizza. My favorite food is broccoli rabe. And anything super fresh from the garden and relatively unadorned is always good.
