Newly Opened Arts Inn Participates in the AMR Open Art Studios Tour This Weekend

Arts Inn opened earlier this year as a bed and breakfast and events venue, and defines itself “as a place to restore, renew and connect.” The owners, Randy Leer and Heidi Stonier, have had family connections to the area since the 1940s when Kitty Leer, the matriarch, arrived in Fleischmanns with her parents as refugees from WWII; the family opened an eatery, and bed and breakfast, and created a welcoming community.

Fast forward, Randy and Heidi met in Paris in 1984 – Randy, a writer and filmmaker, and Heidi, a dancer and choreographer, worked together on many productions that shaped their artistic vision. Finally, their dream to open a venue that forges collaboration and imagination became reality this year with the opening of Arts Inn, which Randy and Heidi envision as a hub for art, education, and community.

This weekend, Arts Inn is participating in the AMR Open Art Studios Tour, which is returning after having been on a hiatus during the Covid pandemic. The tour will take place Saturday and Sunday, July 30 – 31 from 11 am to 5 pm. The event will kick-off with an opening reception Friday, July 29 at 5:30 pm at Liberal Arts Roxbury.

Launched in 2012, the tour has traditionally included dozens of artist studios located in Andes, Margaretville, Roxbury, and the adjacent towns and hamlets, and has featured creatives working in all media and artistic disciplines.

This weekend Arts Inn will be showing works by Amy Masters, Carol C. Young, Rani, and others. The gift shop carries well curated Catskill Mountains memorabilia. Scheduled events include a poetry workshop on August 12 – 14, and a music performance on August 27. To check room availability, events, and space rental visit https://www.artsinncatskills.com.
